What cutting board is the best?
I currently have only plastic cutting boards. The cuts in it from my knives are getting pretty deep, and I noticed it holding pieces of raw meat even after being scrubbed last night.(i dont have a dish washer)
Should i just replace the plastic cutting board with another plastic one or would i be better off buying a glass one?
Wood is bad for meat right?
Also, what is better on your knives? I'm investing in a nice set in a month or so... I dont want to ruin them on the wrong kind of cutting board.
Note: I'm really clumsy in the kitchen, I'm always in a hurry to get dinner on the table,
so if there is a cutting board I should not buy what would it be?

Wood and get a good one from a hard wood like oak or maple. Wooden cutting boards are a lot easier on knives. Plastic ones dull knives very quickly and glass is worse. Glass cutting boards IMHO are dangerous. The knife slips and cuts you instead of what you are cutting.
Wood has an antibacterial quality also. The health department in Texas got the bright idea that plastic boards had to be better than wood, for not particular reason I could ever figure out. Texas A&M University did a study and found more bacteria growing on plastic than on wood.
You should sanitize any cutting board. Use about a 1 1/2 teaspoons or bleach to a gallon of water. That is a accepted by all health departments I am aware of. In Texas each station (work area in a kitchen) has to have a stanatizer on the station.
Do your new knives a favor and get a good cutting board to go with them.
A note on knives... sharp ones cut what you want them to cut and dull ones slid off and cut you.
